The Alex Hulme Foundation
On the 24th August 2014, Garreg Goch
Caravan Park
will be holding our annual fun day in aid of the Alex Hulme Foundation. Alex
was a wonderful boy who spent many happy holidays at Garreg Goch
Caravan Park,
where he would stay in his Grandparents caravan. Sadly his life was taken far
too early, by Non-Hodkin Lymphoma. Please join us for our annual fun day, when
we have bouncy castles, childrens games (and also for adults who dare to join
in!) tombola stall, burger stall etc., followed in the evening by a disco,
dancing, singing from Nicola Stringfellow and a hog roast. It’s a wonderful,
happy event held in Alex’s memory to raise awareness of this disease and
hopefully lots of money for research and machinery funded by the foundation.
Alex’s story -
Alex was born in Trafford on July 29th 1999 and led a full
and fruitful life, endearing himself to all who met him with his fun, easy
going and mature approach to life.
In March 2011, Alex was diagnosed with B-Cell Non-Hodgkin
Lymphoma which came as a massive shock to everyone who knew him.
Throughout his treatment Alex was very brave and positive
doing all that was asked of him, believing he would be rewarded with a full
recovery. Unfortunately, despite his treatment working well in the early
stages, Alex's cancer returned in late June and although he responded well
again, he lost his six month battle and left us on Monday September 5th 2011.
Alex's service took place on September 14th 2011 at Hazel
Grove United Reformed Church and he has been laid to rest in Sale Cemetery
overlooking Walton Road
park where he spent so many happy hours.
Alex touched so many people in such a short time and we are
so very, very proud of him. Alex's family, his many friends his schools and
everyone who knew him miss him terribly, losing Alex has had such a massive
impact on our lives.
